Full webpage grab on Mac OS X: Paparazzi

April 22nd, 2006 1 Comment »

Today I wanted to take a picture of an entire webpage and couldn’t remember what the name of the application was I’d used on the Mac before to do so. Turns out it was called Paparrazi. Unfortunately the website listed by the author in 2004 for that application is no longer active.

Turns out there is a new and improved Paparazzi here.

MAMP local dev environment for Mac OS X Apache MySQL and PHP

April 5th, 2006 No Comments »

MAMP is a sweet package for developers wanting to develop on their Mac using Apache, MySQL and PHP locally. It also includes PHPMyAdmin and is setup so that when you don’t want to use it any more you can just delete the application folder. Well done!

MAMP is not meant to be run as a webserver, if you want to do that, I wrote about how to do this over on the php-scripts blog earlier today.

OPML Editor Mac version

Oh yeah, the OPML Editor (Mac, free) test over at my Wordpress demo blog went well, so time to try it out here.

This will let you blog to any Wordpress blog. As of this writing a small tweak to xmlrpc.php is required for Wordpress.org powered sites.

Testing OPML Editor post (macmode)

Just a test using Zoundry! for posting from the desktop. It only works with Windows which is a bit counter to this Mac Mode, but maybe if enough people ask for a Mac version they will supply it. Also, I plan to check out the OPML Editor for the Mac.

Active Timer tracks time spent in applications

October 17th, 2005 1 Comment »

The following is one of my current favorite small, useful, freeware applications for the Mac because it allows me to break up the tasks I’m doing and see how much time is actually spent doing them.

I have a general idea, but Active Timer let’s me get specific — literally down to the second — about it.

The author of the program, Robert Chin’s blog is here.

Now I am in search of something that does this on Windows? Anybody know of such an animal in existence? Freeware, shareware or commercial, please use the comments and let me know.
