Document organization with Kip

Kip helps organizes those cardboard boxes full of papers and does not require a scanner. I’m curious how this one actually works — and if it works as good as advertised. Anybody tried this one out? Hurry, it’s marked as “this versionof kip is free” which suggests to me later versions might not be. I’ve marked it for checking out later.

Active Timer tracks time spent in applications

The following is one of my current favorite small, useful, freeware applications for the Mac because it allows me to break up the tasks I’m doing and see how much time is actually spent doing them.

I have a general idea, but Active Timer let’s me get specific — literally down to the second — about it.

The author of the program, Robert Chin’s blog is here.

Now I am in search of something that does this on Windows? Anybody know of such an animal in existence? Freeware, shareware or commercial, please use the comments and let me know.

CiphSafe 1.2.1 (Freeware) password manager

I was using the back of a paper CD case to scrawl down passwords for the Mac. On the Windows side I use my Pocket PC for user/pass so I needed a good Mac solution. I did some searching through VersionTracker and came up with this:

CiphSafe 1.2.1 - Simple-to-use application to store passwords or other notes securely. Encrypts with 320 bit Blowfish, includes random password generation, and a very clean interface.

AutumnLeaves 1.1

Looks like an interesting way to spice up, holiday-style the Mac desktop: AutumnLeaves 1.1 ($5 shareware):

Makes colorful autumn leaves fall on your desktop. The leaves pile up on your windows and on screen, while acorns drop, chipmunks scurry around and mushrooms and pumpkins (Halloween!) grow.
