Not going to be able to enter NaNoWriMo contest with non-fiction novel

After reading more into National Novel Writing Month rules it appears that non-fiction is not allowed. I haven’t written any new fiction since 1998, so I’m not sure if I’ll be entering the contest next month now. I am not fearful of writing fiction.
On a positive note, I have started thinking of a fiction idea that does involve Mac computers and I am still very much updating my non-fiction diary about my ongoing experience using a Mac for the first time. Not sure though now if I’ll be entering the NaNoWriMo for the month. Still a good week though to figure this out.
Darn.
